wood; black; handle; wheels REMARKS:Black wooden carpet sweeper with a detachable wooden handle. Rotary motion of wheels turns a circular brush that pick up dirt and deposits it in a housing, doors of which can be opened with a lever to empty. Purchased at auction by donor 4/4/1987 from the estate sale of Milton Smith who was a heavy mechanic for seventy eight years. INSCRIPTION:"MODEL 907" "4-1-44" "DURABILT" "Important directions (running) the Sweeper, run the sweeper smoothly forward and back. DO NOT USE a jerky motion. Empty dust pans often. Both pans controlled by one lever. CLEAN BRUSH - to remove ravelings of hair that have accumulated, cut same between each row of bristles with a pair of shears. Then remove ravelings etc. with old comb. OBJECT DATE:ca. 1944 |
