Oral histories; transcription REMARKS: I am Ella Mae Young, today I am interviewing Charles and Harry Norton and their sister Eileen who is Mrs. Harry Rapp at the Douglas County Museum. The date is April 27, 1981. The Nortons came to Rosebury this week for their Sutherlin High School reunion. Charles' home is in Monterey, California and Harry now lives in eastern Oregon. Eileen and Harry Rapp live in Roseburg. The interview is mainly about their father, Frank J. Norton, his canning and produce business in Douglas County. The interview covers the time Charles and Harry worked with and for their father Frank J. Norton when the Sutherlin Cannery was in business until 1929. They also had orchards on the east side of Sutherlin. A cannery at Drain, Or. Covers the time when tyey purchased prunes from over the county, the Oakland Turkey Show and WW II. Charles describes his profession as a chemist for the Cont. Can Co. and Harry about his farming and ranching days. Eileen Rapp, their sister describes some of the early days in Sutherlin.
