REMARKS:Stamp book and 36 trading stamps issued by the Community Gift Bond Co. This book is stamped on reverse, "Anderson Union Service, Oakland, Oregon, US 99 Foot of Rice Hill".; These stamps were given by merchants to customers at a fixed percentage of each purchase. Filled books of stamps could be redeemed for merchandise. This practice was popular from ca. 1930 to 1970, and largely disappeared as a merchandising tool after 1975.
