REMARKS:This interview is with Beatrice Knight and takes place at her home on Smith River Road on April 11, 1979 and also present at this interview is her husband Bill Knight. The Interviewer is Valerie Sonnenberg.
Beatrice Wooley Knight was born December 7, 1905 in Los Angeles, California and in 1910 her father and mother, Agnes Jacobson Wooley and Earnest E. Wooley, came to Oregon, and homesteaded on Smith Creek. Beatrice Knight grew up on that homestead with frequent trips back to California. In her adult life she lived in California until she married Bill Knight in 1938 when they returned to the original homestead.
She began her kennels, the famous Sanctuary Woods in 1943 where she has become a legend breeding St. Bernards. She has bred more than 100 champions.
