REMARKS: This interview is with Audrey Walker Riley and it takes place in her hoe in Elkton on May 1, 1979. The interviewer is Valerie Sonnenberg.
Audrey Walker Riley was born January 23, 1892, she was adopted at the age two by Alpheus and Jane Walker. The Walkers had the Walker Donation Land Claim and Mrs. Riley still lives on a 120 acres of that. She went to school ata the Walker school which was on the land claim, and then later went to Oakland. Her parents raised grain, hay, hogs, cattle, sheep, and horses ad chickens. Towards the end of the interview I noticed an organ and I asked Mrs. Riley if she played. She consented to play the organ if I would sing, even though she was rusty. I agreed to that and on the other side of the tape we had a small musical recital.
