REMARKS:Two issues of the Roseburg Review, a twice-weekly newspaper in Roseburg. The 25 December 1893 issue reprints a letter from Captain Albert Lyman, who was on the first exploring party across the Umpqua River Bar in 1851. According to editorial commentary, Lyman offered his diary and sketches to the newspaper for reprinting as they wished. The editorial commentary noted that the newspaper was in receipt of the diary and sketches, and that selections would be published in subsequent issues of the Review [presumably, in 1894].; These two issues were part of a bound [stitched] set of Reviews for 1893 [L.991.3.107], but they were loose in the original storage box. They are both very fragile, and must be handled with gloves and a support mechanism [rigid folder or transporter] whenever they are consulted for research.
