REMARKS: This is an interview with Earl Ensley. It takes places on June 9, 1978, in the home of Mr. Ensley in Drain, Oregon. The interviewer is Star Eatherington. Also present during part of the interview is Ernest Hunt. In this interview Mr. Ensley talks mainly of his experience in the logging industry. He started in logging in 1911 and worked pretty much through the rest of his life. He also did farming and fruit orchard work. He talks about what it was like in logging camps. He also talks about some of the tools and methods of logging used in the early days. He talks about the different logging companies and mills in the area. He also mentions quite a few restaurants and entertainment areas around. He also talks a little about the history of Drain, how some of the roads used to go, and a little bit about his family history.
