REMARKS: This is an interview with Fred Riley. It takes place on June 28, 1978 in the home of Mr. Riley in Elkton, Oregon. The interviewer is Star Eatherington. Also present is Audrey Riley, his wife.
In this interview Mr. Riley talks about his life as a child growing up in the Elkton area and the different farms that he lived on, how he cut rails for a rail fence and the other methods of farming such as thrashing wheat and shearing sheep. Mr. & Mrs. Riley talked about the time they had the telephone out of Elkton. He talks about the time he drove a stage between Elkton and Oakland and parta of the time he drove regular horse-drawn stage in the winter and in the summer he would drive automobiles.
