REMARKS:From typed description inside front of scrapbook: "Dr. Stewart's early days as a physician in Glendale were interrupted by W.W.I. Much of Book begins with manu[a]ls and directives in Base Hospital at Vanco[u]ver and at the hospital at Camp Lewis, Washington.; About midway through Book I[,] "flashbacks' from the News Review and pictures tell the beginning of the _Old Soldier's Home_ and later, the beginning of efforts to secure establishing the _Veteran's Administration_ in Roseburg. Dr. Stewart's rapp[o]rt with military men in Washington D.C. helped this project.; There is some overlapping in chronology of events. Biuographical items re Dr. Stewart are scattered throughout.; Old Soldier's Home has history and pictures in Book I, p. 28, 29---see p. 16 through 29."; When this scrapbook was cataloged in August 1997, some of the items cited as being in pages 1 and 2 [viz., U.S. Army song book (1918 edition) and Dr. Stewart's first Army insiginia] were missing.
