REMARKS:Publications concerning the 1992/93 organizing effort by the Oregon Public Employees Union for Douglas County employees. Most materials were received through interoffice mail or personal delivery. [Douglas County's Human Resources Department ruled that both supportive and opposing materials concerning the union could be sent throug interoffice mail. Originally, materials supporting the union were delivered in person].; After OPEU requested an election, some Douglas County employees organized a group in opposition to the union organizing campaign. Both the union's newsletter and the opposition group's newsletter are included in this collection, together with brochures and other mailings sent to employees.; The election was conducted by mail ballot between 23 February 1993 and March 1993. OPEU was defeated by approximately 110 votes [ca. 260 against versus ca. 150 in favor of the union]; votes were counted on 10 March 1993.
