REMARKS:The Umpqua Valley Roundup was a rodeo begun in 1944 by the Douglas County Sheriff's Posse. It was the first event staged at the second Douglas County Fairgrounds, located on the the South Umpqua River. This collection includes programs to Rodeo events, 2 contracts for horses, Treasurer's reports for 1947 and 1948, and press releases describing Roundup events, ca. 1948-1950.; Also in this collection are copies of specially-cancelled envelopes for a "pony express" ride from Dillard to Roseburg in 1984, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Roundup. The proclamation was signed by Lou Sarver, President of the Roundup, as well as riders from the Umqpua Valley Roundup Grand Entry Flag Girls and the sheriff and district attorney of Douglas County.
