REMARKS: This is an interview with Alton Balfour, also present is his wife Helen. The interview takes place in their home in Yoncalla, on April 25, 1979. The interviewer is Valerie Sonnenberg.
Mr. Balfour was born in Prineville, Oregon in 1912. His parents homesteaded in that area and set up a sawmill. Later they moved to Marsh Creek and then they moved to Coos Bay. His fataher logged in Powers, Mr. Balfour himself became a logger and worked in the woods at an early age. Most of this tape gives logging practices from former times up to the present day.
