REMARKS:Umpqua County was created by the Oregon Territorial Legislature on 24 January 1851, including all of modern Douglas County. On 7 January 1852, the territorial legislature created Douglas County from the eastern portion of Umpqua County [all territory South and East of the Calapooya Creek]. Part of Umpqua County was added to Coos County in December 1853. The balance of Umpqua County, along the watershed of the main Umpqua River, was assigned to Douglas County on 7 January 1862.; This particular collection of records includes approximately 80 pages of property tax rolls, together with one page of poll listing (perhaps from the 1858 election).
