|Object Name||ledger, deeds|
|Scope & Content||
REMARKS:One unidentified ledger book, identified on Research Library shelflist card as "Practice bookkeeping set for school". Entries indicate that the practice transactions were designed by a publisher in Canada - probably the province of Ontario ["Lofs" used for "Loss" is one example of British spelling; "Supplies to Buffalo" [NY?] is another entry].; Found in the ledger book were seven copies of blank warranty deed forms. These were pre-printed "State of Oregon, County of Douglas", indicating that they were produced after 1859. These blank forms include separate sections to be completed indicating that wives of jointly-owned property were examined separately from their husbands to determine if they agreed to the real estate sale [as required by Oregon law].
