REMARKS:The Charles V. Stanton collection consists of miscellaneous files removed from Stanton's desk after his death in 1978. Stanton was a journalist with the Roseburg News-Review, and wrote on aspects of local history.; Some of the papers are studies by the Oregon Fish Commission on salmon and steelhead fisheries in the Umpqua River. These date from ca. 1945 to ca. 1965.; There is also a copy of a 26-page report by D.N. Matthews, Assistant Forest Supervisor, Umpqua National Forest, on the homesteading controversy concerning the Fish Creek Desert area of the Umpqua National Forest.
