REMARKS:Photocopies and typescripts referring to the Douglas County Poor Farm [later the Douglas County Nursing Home]. These notes and transcriptions appear to have been made by Lavola Bakken, Research Librarian at the Museum, ca. 1975-80.; Three of the most informative items are:; 1) Typed transcription from the Douglas County Journal, 12 January 1899, p. 181. Text begins: "In the matter of the renting or the selling of the Douglas County Poor Farm - bids." Bids were submitted by W.H. Gordon, T.N. Grubb [sic], J.C. Gillam [sic], W.H. Gordon [purchase], H.C. Long, W.R. Vinson, S.J. Thornton [3 bids], and J.W. Hall;; 2) Photocopy of a petition from residents in the area of the Poor Farm, requesting the County Court to establish a ferry in the vicinity of the Poor Farm; and; 3) A chronology of the County Poor Farm, dated 12 October 1950, that is a copy of the notes placed in the cornerstone of the County Home Building, 13 November 1950.
