REMARKS: This is an interview with Bess Briggs and it takes place at the home of Bess Briggs outside of Canyonville, Oregon. The interviewer is Star Eatherington.
In this tape Mrs. Briggs talks about her early life. She was a Weaver from the Ed Weaer Family and she talks about the crops tht her father raised, prunes an hops. She describes what the hop fields look like and she describew what the dryers for the prunes and the hops look like. She did a lot o cooking in her earlier days. She came from a big family of fifteen children and she talks about the baking of brad and how they saved the yeast from one meal to the next. She talks about the difference of white bread and sourdough bread which is in the different kinds of yeast that they used. She talks about some of the holidays and some of the dances, the ways thata they used to have fun. She talks about Halloween and some of the tricks and some of the johns that they used to knock over. She talks about Christmas and she talks about her favorite Christmas when she got her doll. She showed me the doll that she got when she was five years old.
