Gibbs, Addison Crandall, Governor...He came to Oregon in 1850, and laid out the townsite of Gardiner at the mouth of the Umpqua, where he became first terrtorial representative from Umpqua (now Douglas) County, 1852-1853. In 1853 he was appointed collector of customs, Umpqua River, serving until 1857.
