REMARKS:The City of Oakland nominated its downtown area as a National Historic District in the late 1970's. This district was accepted into the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. This collection consists of minutes to meetings, background reports from County and State planning agencies, information on statewide regulations concerning historic preservation, and copies of minutes to meetings of the Oakland City Council and the Oakland Historic Preservation Commission in 1976-78.
