REMARKS: This interview is with Leona Buckle and takes place at her home in Winston, Oregon on January 29, 1979. The interviewer is Valerie Sonnenberg.
Leona Buckle's father was Nelson Jones, son of Isaac Jones, who arrived in Oregon in 1850s and with his two brothers settled adjoining homesteads in Garden Valley. Mrs. Buckle was born in Ross Slough near Marshfield and moved to the Cleveland Umpqua area in 1929 where her husband and son logged the land. They also raised sheep and cattle. She tells some stories of her early childhood and reminiscences of the Jones' Family.
