REMARKS: This is a taped interview with Louis Fullerton in his office in Winston, Oregon, August 9, 1979. Interviewer Judy Roberts. Mr. Fullerton's family comes from Canyonville. His grandfather came with Mr. Gazley and helped settle that area around Gazley and he tells the story of how his people came out here and how one of them had to go back and get the families afther they got their claims. He spent most of his youth in Canyonville although he spent four years in Riddle where he lived with an aunt and uncle who wanted him to stay there. It is interesting to note taht this uncle had a meat market in Riddle, but he had a Dutchman to run it for him. When Mr. Fullerton graduated from high school there were six in his class. He also talks about the first car that he saw when he was in grade school. They even let school out so all the kids could see it. He tells about the rivalry between Canyonville and Riddle and how they used to play baseball together.
