Interview on July 12, 1979, this is an interview with Lyle Fenner in his office at the QUEN Radio Station. Taped for the Douglas County Museum Oral History Program. Interviewer: Judy Robertson. Mr. Fenner is the manager for QUEN Radio Station. He came to Oregon just prior to World War II. He work in the Portland Shipyards and he talks some about this. He enlisted in the Navy and was in a unique unit in that everybody in this unit was equipped to repair the Liberty Ships and they were all going to be shipped of to England to repair the ships over there. He didn't get shipped off as he went into Officers' Training School where they discovered that he was not an American Citizen having been born in Canada. By the time this mess was straightened out his unit had already been shipped off. So the Navy then shipped him to Greenland.
