REMARKS:Copies of materials from a scrapbook compiled by Barbara Orr Ehrhart, Sutherlin native who won prizes at the Oakland Turkey Show for dresses and hats made of turkey feathers and other bird products.; The materials, filed in an acid-free folder in the Small Manuscript file [Halon Room], consist of newspaper articles and photocopies of some photographs showing Barbara Orr Ehrhart and her creations. The newspaper columns are from Tyler, TX, and Champaign, IL, as well as Roseburg, OR. Barbara Orr Ehrhart and her husband, Fred, sought to establish companies in Tyler and later in Champaign to manufacture dresses from turkey feathers. In several interviews, Barbara states that her original purpose in making the dresses and winning the fashion contests at the Oakland Turkey Show was to gain notoreity as a songwriter.
