REMARKS:Interview conducted on 11 April 1979 by Valerie Sonnenberg. "William Asbury Knight was born in Northhamptonshire, England, October 1891. His father had a small horse collar factory there. He was one of ten brothers and sisters. Mr. Knight immigrated to the United States and reached Oregon in the 1930s when he began logging for the Ball Logging Company, and working in the mills for Smith River Lumber Company. He talks about the mills and what life was like during those years. His wife Beatrice [Wooley] Knight raises St. Bernards and Burmese Mountain dogs...." [from introductory paragraph]
