REMARKS:The Roseburg Chamber of Commerce has presented an annual "First Citizen Award" since 1954. This award, made at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet, recognizes an individual who has contributed to improving civic life in Roseburg.; Beginning in 1984, an additional award called the "Pioneer in the History of Douglas County" was presented, recognizing a deceased person who had contributed to Douglas County's economic and social life. Each year, a person is chosen who represents one of three areas of emphasis: Economic Development, Cultural/Social Development, and Political/Public Administration.; This small collection includes a partial list of First Citizen and Pioneer First Citizen Award winners, programs and invitations to Chamber of Commerce banquets, and a partial list of Roseburg Chamber of Commerce presidents.; Also included is a copy of the speech written by Daniel Robertson, Director of the Douglas County Museum, recognizing Dr. Earle B. Stewart at the 1997 banquet.
