REMARKS:The Sanborn Map Company issued maps of streets and structures in urban business districts. The maps were used by fire insurance agents to rate structures for individual and business insurance policies. These photocopies were made by the Map Division of the Library of Congress.; Sanborn maps, because of their original use, provide information about the shape, location, and materials used in dwellings and businesses. New Sanborn maps were issued when a town's business district changed substantially. Roseburg maps were issued approximately every 5 years.; A set of Roseburg Sanborn maps is available on microfilm in the Bakken Research Library.
